Goffy Media - Project - HUFC Centenary

When Hartlepool United football club reached it's 100 year milestone they asked Goffy Media to come up with ideas to celebrate the occasion.

We suggested a Centenary Dinner, and began assembling a host of former players from the club. This turned out to be a huge task, as many of the former players had little or no contact with the club since ending their playing careers - for some going back as far as 50 years.

So persuading them to come to Hartlepool on a wintery February Sunday evening was not the easiest of tasks . . . . but we ended up with almost 100 former club players !

The venue chosen was the Borough Hall in Hartlepool.

To make it special, we also secured the services of Jeff Stelling and Chris Kamara from Sky Sports.

They each gave an entertaining speech at the event - any regular viewers to Sky Sports will know that Hartlepool-born Jeff is the club's number one fan !

One of the club's best-known home grown former players is John McGovern (pictured right), who attended the event. John followed legendary Brian Clough to Derby County and Nottingham Forest, and captained two cup-winning sides with Cloughie at Forest.

Players from every generation joined the capacity crowd to make this, in the words of the club's Chief Executive Russ Green "The greatest night in the club's history off the pitch".
